Character name: Nidai Nekomaru
Series: Super Dangan Ronpa 2
Canon point: Right after chapter 3.
Summary:
. Personality
A first look at Nidai might make him out to be a very imposing and intimidating person, and while this is true, it’s not quite for the reasons you’d expect. He’s not imposing because he’s scary, but because of his intense enthusiasm for life and his overbearing good attitude, and also his booming voice. The fact that he shouts most of what he says contributes to his general intensity. Nidai’s general outlook on life is that life is important and one needs to make something of it and enjoy every moment of it, and Nidai will do a lot to help other people do this.

Nidai is a very outward focused person, even more outwardly focused than one would expect from someone who’s Super High School Level ability of manager focuses a lot on helping others improve. He helps people refine themselves and is very jolly about it. He has much experience in helping people become greater than they already are, at least via sports teams.

As mentioned, Nidai is also quite loud and imposing at times and this can make him quite intimidating. He shouts loud and often, and while he’s never exactly negative, this doesn’t always stop him from being somewhat scary, especially combined with Nidai’s huge bulk. Once one gets past this, Nidai is a pretty swell dude, though not always the most sensitive. He’s not the most apparently to subtlety, and won’t always get small hints. One may be hinting strongly that they wish a change in the conversation, say an embarrassing moment, but they’ll keep on trying to tell them it’s okay when the person simply wishes to not talk about it. The best way to get Nidai to efficiently is to tell it to them as bluntly as a sledgehammer.

Nidai is someone whom is very hard to offend; he will more likely laugh off an insult than get legitimately upset over it. Insults cannot pierce spirit. However, he will get very passionate over things, screaming and shouting enthusiastically over things that are important to him. This can make him a bit difficult to take seriously at first, especially if he’s getting passionate about something minor, like how badly he needs to use the toilet, but behind this is a fierce optimism that is hard to match. Nidai can be calm and collected during conversation, depending on the topic, and he actually speaks quite gently when he's not busy screaming.

Nidai does enjoy life a lot, and has no ill will against accepting indulgences and enjoying the most out of life. Despite Nidai's fierce drive to help other people, that doesn’t mean he’s not going to hesitate to help himself. In chapter 4, he was eager to take one of the most extravagant rooms, even though he was a robot and thus didn’t need to extra comfort. Nidai did not see any problem with this, as mentioned, he is not the best person at understanding subtle cues. Even some simple phrases can confuse him, for example, his response to 'So and so is a tool' will be along the lines of 'How can they be a tool!? They are a person!"

Nidai’s mannerisms are very formal for Japanese, he talks like an old man who’s very fond of saying the word shit.

History
As a child, Nidai Nekomaru had a very serious heart condition that frequently brought him into the hospital. While this sucked a lot, it also ended up sucking in other ways, as he frequently missed school because of this and as a result he had few friends. One day, a new patient moved into his hospital room. This patients name was Daisuke, and he was a manager for a local team. He was also sick with a serious heart condition, but was doing his best to manage for his team.

Nidai and Daisuke struck up a friendship, with Nidai wondering how one could still remain so passionate when one was so sick. He learned a lot from Daisuke, and was inspired by how much he tried to help his team, so when Daisuke died, Nidai took it upon himself to manage Daisukes team in his place. Nidai managed to bring the team to the championships, where they won. This was the start of Nidais career as manager, and over time, his condition got better, and his skills increased to the point where they could be considered Super High School Level. As a result, when he reached high school, he got a formal invitation from the formal establishment of Hope’s Peak, whose goal was to collect such shining stars of talent.

(Massive End Game spoilers until these blank lines.) At Hopes Peak, something went wrong – his heart may’ve gone out again, leaving him unable to manage; Hope’s Peak may’ve forced him to use his talents in ways he didn’t prefer. While vague, what is known is that he ended up being susceptible to the forces of Super High School Level Despair, Junko Enoshima, and as a result became a part of the Destroyers of the World, who helped bring their world into chaos and ultimate despair, helping bring a near end to civilization itself. In this state, one strives for absolute despair, destroying what brings one happiness, buildings things up again to only destroy them, until one essentially becomes a monster.

However, the reign of Despair over the world ended when Junko Enoshima was killed by the survivors of the first murder game, that occured in Dangan Ronpa. Many of the members of Super High School Level Despair killed themselves after this event, however, 15 members stayed behind to try to restore Junko Enoshima. These kids were all ex-students from Hopes Peaks, people who had succumbed to despair and helped bring it to the world. These were found by the Future Foundation, a group trying to recover the world. At first they were thought to be simply survivors, but were slated to be killed when it was found out they were shsl despair.

The survivors of the first murder game thought there was still hope for them, and stole them away to help them recover. They put them in a simulation, where they would all spend time together on a tropical island to form friendships and find hope for the future. Their memories were reset to before they went to Hope’s Peak, so they could live and grow without the influence of Junko or Hope’s Peak.

However, one of the Despair kids had bought a Junko AI into the simulation, so their chance of recovery was hijacked, and thus, their rehabilitation got turned into a second murder game.
Thus begins the events of Super Dangan Ronpa 2.

Nidai played no major roles in any of the murders of the first two chapters, though like many of the others, he bought up points in trials and helped figure out who the culprits were in each case. In chapter two, he started up a friendship with Akane, helping her to refine her skills and becoming her manager. The two became close friends, close enough that when Monobear almost killed Akane with a missile, Nidai took the hit for her and almost died.

It was stated that those who had not broken rules or killed someone could not be killed by Monobear, and as a result, Monobear announced that he would restore Nidai back to full health, and thus took him off to recover, putting Nidai out of commission until the end of Chapter 3.

At the end of Chapter 3, it was revealed that Nidai had indeed been able to be saved….but had only been able to be done so by being put into a robotic body. While many people are shocked by this, Nidai is pretty cheerful and optimistic, mostly happy that he had managed to get a second chance at life and happy to see that his sacrifice to save Akane had not been for waste. This is the point in canon that he is being taken from.

(Chapter 4 Victim and Murderer Spoilers Here) In chapter 4, he was a major player, as he was the victim of the murder. The current survivors up until that point had been trapped in a funhouse, and told they would not receive food or water until a murder took place. Many of the kids refused to continue the murder game, and were convinced they could find another way out. As a result, Gundam Tanaka manipulated a situation where Nidai and him would meet alone in a main room, with Gundam seeing Nidai as mostly likely to understand the necessity for a murder in the current situation, as currently most of the others were just needlessly sacrificing their lives.

Nidai agreed, and Gundam and Nidai made a pack to find and create a murder, so that somebody could survive. This was a result that ended up with Nidai getting killed, his robotic party now torn apart, and his head broken to the point that it would be impossible to fix him.
This is how Nidai ni-died.

Powers: Nidai’s body comes equipped with many useful features! These include:

-An internalized alarm clock. Internalized as in, he has an actual clock inside his body. It works based on LOOK THIS UP, so its always accurate, though its unsure if this will remain the case in the bastion. Nidai is able to set it as an alarm to wake himself up when he is switched off.
-He can cry beverages. He cries cola from the left eye and rooibos tea from the right eye. He can do this on command.
-Nidai's skill as a Super High School Level Manager gives him great talent in helping others improve themselves physically and skillwise, given time and effort from the person he is managing. This and the next talent are both skills he had before he became a robot.
-He can give REALLY good massages, apparently so good that they can give people fierce energy.
-There is an off button located on the panel near the back of his neck. Pressing this will turn him off, and he will turn off once his alarm clock goes off.
-He can go into overdrive, which increases his strength and allows him to apply much greater force to things.
-He is retrofitted to run on rice, though he can also presumably be charged to regain energy.

Entry: Nidai can probably manage to find his own way to the Bastion!

Other: A manager is basically someone of a lower position of a coach, but generally much closer to the teams players. They do a lot of caretaking work for the team, and help set defined goals for them to reach and to help improve themselves.
